What’s It Like?
Visiting somewhere new can feel a little daunting, especially church. We want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and know what to expect when you visit Muse. Here's some information that might help.
When Is Church On
Our gatherings are usually held at 3pm on Sunday afternoons at Palate & Ply in Coffs Harbour.
From time to time we'll have a social meal or meet in a different location, so it's always worth checking Instagram for the latest details.
Before you arrive
Parking is on the street outside the café. You can park anywhere nearby, just check the signs so you don’t end up in a loading zone.
You don’t need to arrive too early—we always start with a relaxed time of food and coffee.
If you have kids, feel free to come a few minutes early to meet our kids leaders.
What to wear
We are super casual and relaxed, so just wear what you would normally. Shorts, T-shirts…..just be yourself and be comfortable
What happens at Church
Food & Coffee
We usually start with food and coffee and time to hang out and chat.
People are friendly, and if you’re new, someone will usually say hello. You don’t have to share anything you don’t want to—feel free to ask any questions or just take it all in.
Music & Message
We then have some modern, upbeat music from a live band. The words are on a screen so you can join in if you’d like to. Some people clap or raise their hands—these are simply ways people express their gratitude to God.
Depending on the week, we’ll hear an encouraging message from a speaker, sharing practical teaching from the Bible that helps us navigate everyday life. Other weeks we may have small group discussions with a topic, Bible passages, and simple questions to talk through. You don’t have to share anything unless you want to.
At the End
At the end of the gathering, there may be an opportunity for prayer, a short update about what’s coming up at Muse Church, and more time to eat and get to know people.
What if I’m not sure what I believe
That's completely okay. You don't need to have your beliefs sorted out before coming to church. Many people come to Muse with questions about God, faith, meaning and life. You're welcome to come as you are, ask questions, and take things at your own pace. No pressure, no expectations, and no requirement to have it all figured out.
What about Kids
We love kids, and they’re welcome no matter their age. For children over 2 years old, we have a kids program that runs fortnightly during the speaking part of the gathering. Kids will do activities, hear a story, have fun, and learn something about God.
We take child safety seriously—our leaders are trained and background checked, and children must be signed in and out of the program.
You’re also welcome to keep your children with you during the gathering if that’s what makes them most comfortable.
For babies and younger children, we have some comfy couches at the back where you can relax and hang out.
During the Week
We don’t see church as something that only happens for an hour on Sunday. We see it as a community of people doing life together.
We encourage people to catch up outside of Sundays, and we regularly have social gatherings for everyone.
What if I have questions
We’d love to connect with you in whatever way feels comfortable. If you’d like to chat on the phone or catch up in person—before you come or after you’ve checked things out—feel free to send us a DM or email us at hello@musechurch.co
